Abby laughed out loud for the first time today and we got it on video! We love her SO much. Hope you enjoy the innocence of her first laughter.

Itsy Bitsy Yoga

Abby and I have enjoyed yoga together since she was 6 weeks old. Destination Maternity and A Pea in the Pod offer FREE yoga classes. Itsy Bitsy Yoga is the best. Anywhere from 3-15 moms and babies show up to class. We sing songs and move the babies. Abby seems to love it. If she is tired she will stay awake just to "play." She will last about 45 minutes and then is out for a nap. After the baby yoga I do postnatal yoga. But it is more like an ab and glut work out. After the classes the moms occasionally have each other over for play dates and lunch. It has been a joy to get to know other moms and have a good work out!

My Aunt Lee was an amazing knitter. Every year she would knit, crochet, and other crafting thing at least 100 beautiful things for the family Christmas party. She passed away in March 2009. I was five months pregnant and she had already made Abigail a precious blanket and booties. What a special gift from someone we loved so much! She also gave me socks that say knitting girl. Well I was wearing these socks the other day and it sparked a conversation with a friend. She is hoping I can give her daughters knitting lessons. I haven't been knitting much this year and a half. But I feel inspired by my Aunt Lee to make a lot of things. Maybe I can knit some presents for Christmas just like her. I miss Aunt Lee....

The Search

Abby has had a running nose and tearing eyes off and on the last couple weeks. So I called the doctor and found out that it is most likely allergies! She is so young to have to deal with allergies. :-( This makes sense because JP always has a runny nose. The doctor suggested I get "Little Noses Saline Solution." The next day I went to Babies R US to use a gift card and saw the medicine there. It was $5 and I knew I could get it cheaper at Target so I didn't buy it there. While at Target I bumped into an old neighbor in the medicine isle. He suggested I get the grown up kind because we couldn't find the baby stuff. But I insisted that they were different and I needed the baby stuff. We found the spot where they should be but they were sold out! It was $3.50. (I knew it would be cheaper) No big deal I had to run to Tom Thumb for some groceries and thought surely they would have the stuff, but no luck there. So I went to CVS and finally found and purchased the CVS brand of Little Noses Saline for $3. In the end I am really not sure it is any different than the adult stuff and it is a lot of work to get the baby in and out of the car that many times. If only I had spent the extra $2 at Babies R US I would have saved myself a lot of time and energy.

First Night

Well it looks like everyone was right about the lack of sleep thing. It's 5 am and I'm sure not used to being up right now. We've been up a couple times tonight and I don't know if I'm awake out of excitement or if my body has just adapted to the change. It's probably the excitement. Things are going well, and we still are amazed to be parents.

We can talk about the miracle of life and how amazing God is, but there something about looking into your child's eyes for the first time and seeing them stare back at you, knowing that God knit them together and formed them that completely takes your breath away. There are not words to utter that can begin to describe the awe we both have of God. Looking into our baby's eyes, we may begin to understand how unfathomable is His love for us. May God be praised for this life which he began and holds in His all powerful hands.

Abigail Marie Is Here!!!

Abigail Marie Gaylord has arrived. She was born at 3:15 pm on July 23, 2009. She is 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 21 inches long. Mother and baby are doing well in recovery. Room info for visits will follow soon!

C-Section

Well, things aren't progressing as fast as they should so the doctor said we'd need to have a c-section. Please pray for us as we'll be in surgery soon, but we'll get to meet our daughter soon!

At The Hospital

Well, we made it to the hospital and we're in a room now. The doctor just came in and is about to get everything started for us. We've been asked the same long list of questions by about 3 or 4 people now. We'll keep you updated!

Past due

I'm 9 days past my due date and we are set to induce labor tomorrow, July 23. Not going into labor naturally is a little scary for me. We definitely were not expecting my labor to be planned. My mom arrived last week and it has been so nice to have help at home. We have had fun doing some final preparations and she will be able to stay one more week. I have gained 33 pounds during the pregnancy and hopefully will be back to myself shortly. JP is looking forward to finally having someone to play and care for. He is going to be a wonderful father.

39 weeks

We are anxiously anticipating her arrival. JP and I are going on lots of walks. The heat index brings the temp over 100 most days, so we have been going to the Northpark Mall for walks. My body is definitely getting ready for labor. I can feel things changing and preparing every day. I have an appointment this afternoon and her due date is on the 13. We are getting so close to meeting her!

Dr. Ehmer says we should have her in less than 2 weeks! I am 1 centimeter dialated, 50% effaced, and -2 station. She is going to be here so soon.

My appointment went well this week. I am healthy and the Dr is happy with how I am doing. We are more prepared for her arrival and are excited to finally meet Abigail.

Office Baby Shower

My co-workers gave me a wonderful baby shower. We received several beautiful gifts including bedding, dresses, socks, blankets, diapers, and a stroller! What a huge blessing.

We went to San Antonio to celebrate our 4th Anniversary and our last vacation without children. It was a wonderful trip, but we were both exhausted at the end of the weekend.

My Dr appointment went well this week. We met Dr Heckman. He is one of the two partners in my doctors practice. Abigail is healthy and so am I!

As it gets warmer my hands have started to swell and I can't wear my wedding rings. It feels so strange not to have them on. Some days are better than others so I can pull off wearing them on the good days.

My doctor appointment went well this week. While we were their another patient was in labor and after Dr. Ehmer examined her they went straight to the hospital. JP thought it was so exciting because he can't wait for Abigail to come into the world. I felt bad for the woman because of the pain I could hear in her voice. It was a reality check for me, but don't get me wrong I am still very excited for our baby to come. I measured 31 inches and have gained a total of 30 pounds.

It is kinda strange to celebrate Mother's day today. Several people wished me a Happy Mother's day, but I do not feel that I deserve this honor yet. I have not experienced the full joy, love, pain, stress, and work of having a child yet. However my love for Abigail grows daily.

The Doctor has me counting her kicks now and I get to see him every two weeks instead of once a month. We are definitely getting closer to meeting our child.

Mom and Dad visited for the weekend. Mom helped me with several home projects, including putting together Abigail's room. We went to Ikea to get the furniture and then put it together. Mom did most of the work and was very diligent! (I love you Mom!) JP and I decided on a lavender themed room with flowers and butterflies.

I am in my 25th week (full term is 40 weeks), 6th month. I can not believe that I am 2/3 of the way to being a mom. This is amazing.

Today I finally made it to prenatal yoga. It was my first time doing yoga and it was a lot harder than I anticipated. After the class I felt so relaxed and renewed. I hope I can make it to another class.

JP feels Abby Move!

We moved to a larger 2 bedroom apartment in The Village. Our first night in our new home JP felt Abby move. It was very exciting for both of us. I was 23 weeks when he felt her move. Feeling her move has made this miracle even more real and evident to both of us.

The sonogram clearly showed that we are having a girl. She is healthy and progressing on time. We are so delighted. Her name is Abigail (meaning her father rejoices) Marie (in remembrance of my loving grandmother). :-)

Strong Momas

Today I went to a free prenatal work out class. It was cardio and strength, called "Strong Momas". Destination Maternity offers free classes almost every day! I hope to take advantage of them. It was really challenging and it made me feel good. I want to be physically ready to have this baby.

I'm really showing now. Several strangers have asked me about the pregnancy (including the bank teller I see every day at the drive through!) This is kinda strange. I'm surprised how bold people are. We will find out the gender in only 12 days! This picture was taken on Feb 2 at 17 weeks.

It moved!

I think I have been feeling the baby move! Yesterday I felt a little kick and today it felt like I had butterflies. It is a very strange feeling. I am amazed to think a baby is in me.

My parents are visiting this week on their trip from Grand Rapids to Phoenix. Mom came with me to my appointment today and we heard the baby's heartbeat. I feel so blessed to have a healthy baby. It is amazing to hear its heart and to know that God is knitting my little one together in his time. Mom says "Hearing my grandchild's swoosh swoosh brought a tear to my eye. Maybe he will be a basket ball player." Dr. Ehmer said "It sounds like a boy!" We will find out the gender on February 19th when my in-laws visits.

I definitely need bigger clothes. Thanks to my good friend Erica, I have plenty of maternity clothing to wear. I've gained 15 lbs in the 1st trimester and the estimated weight gain is 30-35lbs. I'm already half way there!! Yikes.

Also we put an offer on a home in Garland TX! We will have the house inspected next week and hopefully get the loan.

More Baby!

Hello everyone,

I'm sure you've been wondering, what is new with the Gaylords. Well here is your answer. The pregnancy is going well, Stephanie has been a little sick, but nothing too bad. She is more tired than anything. We've switched doctors, and now are very happy with the one that we currently have. We finally heard the baby's heartbeat! It was quite exciting. The next checkup shouldn't be for a little while and I don't think we'll find out any new information (like if it's a boy or a girl) until sometime in february. That's it from here, we'll try to update y'all soon!

It's Official

Today, we officially started telling everyone that we are having a baby. It is really exciting! Our favorite part is watching people react to the news. Earlier this week we went in and had an ultrasound and got to see the baby for the first time. It is definitely a moment that we'll be able to remember for the rest of our lives. Stephanie is feeling pretty well. She isn't getting sick, but is getting more and more tired. That's it for this update, stay tuned for more!
